About Controlá
Controlá is a Barcelona-based hotel automation company that connects each room's climate and checkout to the booking, for hotels, aparthotels and short-stay apartment operators. We work with the equipment already in the building, with no construction work and while the hotel stays open.
Recognition
Controlá took first place at Touristech Startup Fest 2026, the startup competition at TIS. It won the NEBEXT Award, presented by the summit's organizers: as they told us, it was the project with the highest jury score among the 40 finalists. The award includes a stand and a slot at TIS 2027.
Tomás Kancyper, CEO and co-founder of Controlá, is on the 2026 list, chosen by a jury from more than 170 nominations and presented on 7 October at TIS in Seville.

A physical button in the room that guests press on their way out. The hotel knows right away: housekeeping gets the alert, the PMS marks the room as vacant and the climate switches itself off. Between 65% and 85% of guests press it, and it has processed more than 5,000 checkouts.
See Checkout ButtonEach room is brought to temperature before check-in, switches off or drops to standby at checkout and stays on hold when there's no booking. Temperature limits, daily schedules and alerts when a room isn't heating or cooling properly let you fix many “the AC isn't working” complaints remotely.

We connect to the VRV systems, splits, fan coils, radiators and smart thermostats already in the building. We're compatible with 95% of climate systems, so there's no need to replace equipment.
An 11-apartment building was installed in under an hour and a 28-apartment one in under three, without opening the door of a single room. If there are already smart thermostats, it's running in under 24 hours with nothing to install.
We read the PMS via API or iCal, with Mews, Opera and others. The room reacts to the actual booking, not to a fixed schedule.
The button runs on LoRaWAN and doesn't depend on the room's WiFi. The system is monitored 24 hours a day and keeps working if the internet goes down.
We publish case studies with the client's name and their numbers. At Sercotel Granada Suites: more than 750 automations a month and zero guest complaints.

It was also one of four startups selected for the OpenStay Lab by Sercotel and SEIDOR.

The hardware is a one-off payment and the platform is a monthly subscription per room. The price depends on each building's climate system, so we work it out after an initial call.
