The system, working

Your car has done this for twenty years. Your hotel still doesn't.

Ninety seconds of a real walkthrough of the dashboard. No animations and no music. Just the product.

How it works in practice

Three moments in the life of a room

These are not abstract benefits. They are three scenes that happen every day in a hotel, and what the system does in each one.

Moment 01

The guest walks in and the room is already cool

The PMS signals the check-in. The climate turns on beforehand, at the temperature you decide and with fan speed at maximum if needed. The guest opens the door and doesn't have to wait twenty minutes for the room to drop below 32 degrees.

The key moment is when the guest walks into the room and feels the cool air.

Moment 02

"The AC doesn't work" gets solved from reception

You see the real state of every room from any screen and from anywhere: whether it's on, in which mode, at what temperature and what has happened in the last few hours. Most incidents get solved without anyone going up to the room.

Real case at Ona Marbella: the guest reports that the AC isn't cooling. From the office you can see the unit is in fan mode. It gets switched to cool mode remotely and the incident is closed. From maintenance to that room it's a twenty-minute walk.

Sometimes they don't know how it works, they complain that it's hot, and the technician goes up and tells them: you've set it to heat mode.

Moment 03

The empty room stops spending

At check-out the climate turns off or drops to a standby temperature. If maintenance or housekeeping comes in and leaves it on, it turns itself off after a few minutes.

And temperature limits prevent 18 degrees in August without the guest feeling a locked thermostat: they can lower it, and after the time you decide it returns to the limit on its own.

Installation

How it connects to your installation

There are two ways a hotel's climate is set up. Recognise yours and you know how we work.

If your hotel has centralised control

VRV, chiller, BMS

We connect to the machine, not to the room. We don't enter a single room and we don't touch a single thermostat.

Sercotel Granada Suites: 28 rooms, VRV system, running in two hours without opening a single door.

If each room controls its own unit

Fan coil, split, radiator

We replace the thermostat with a smart one or add a controller to the unit. Between 10 and 30 minutes per room, in the gap between one check-out and the next check-in.

No rooms out of service: it gets installed in season, with the hotel running.

In both cases your hotel keeps running. No room leaves inventory.

Energy

About savings, let's be honest

In this sector it's easy to find websites promising 40 or 50 percent savings. We don't know how much you will save, because it depends on your installation, your climate and how your guests behave.

10 to 30%

The range we see in climate

What we do is measure it with you during the pilot, in your rooms and with your data, so the number you take to management is yours, not ours.

You have to justify these consumptions and analyses very well to be able to say: the savings are real and they will be this much.

Price

No surprises. No lock-in.

Cost depends on one single thing: how your hotel's climate is set up.

We use software, radio and small controllers instead of construction work and cabling. That's why connecting a hotel today costs a fraction of what home automation used to cost a few years ago. More technology, lower cost.

Centralised climateVRV, chiller, BMS

A single controller for the whole system. The more rooms, the lower the cost per room.

Unit per roomFan coil, split, radiator

One device per room.

In both cases: hardware once, and a monthly subscription per room. We give you the exact number after a 20-minute call.

Data and compliance

What your IT department will ask

  • Servers in Europe. Always.
  • From the PMS we only read arrival and departure dates. No personal guest data.
  • Equipment access credentials can stay on your side and never pass through Controlá.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get on calls

Each one matches a real objection someone has already raised.

Does it work with my air conditioning brand?
If the unit can be controlled in any way, we connect it. We work on VRV, splits, fan coils and radiators, with controllers on the outdoor unit, on the indoor unit or replacing the thermostat. If a new brand shows up, the integration is usually solved in a matter of days.
My installation is fifteen years old. Will it work?
It depends on the equipment, and that's exactly what we solve on the call. We need the outdoor unit model and a photo of the room thermostat. With that we tell you yes, no, or what it would take.
Do you need to connect to our network?
Not necessarily. Depending on the type of installation we can use a router with its own SIM or a LoRaWAN network, without touching the hotel's network.
Do rooms need to close?
No. If your climate is centralised, we don't enter a single room. If it's unit per room, we work in the gap between one check-out and the next check-in.
Can it be installed in high season?
Yes. That's exactly why we do it this way.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The units keep working normally and the guest doesn't notice anything. You also get an alert when a room goes offline, so you can check it before the next guest arrives.
Which PMS do you integrate?
We work via API or iCal calendar. If your PMS isn't integrated yet, we talk to their team. In the meantime the system can run on manually loaded booking calendars.
Can I configure the automations myself?
Yes. Temperature limits, check-in and check-out times, pre-conditioning lead time and the daily reset are all changed by you, per room or for the whole hotel at once.
What if a last-minute booking comes in on a day that was empty?
The system reads the calendar continuously. If a new booking appears, the automatic switch-off is cancelled and the room is pre-conditioned as usual.
